Dennis is a partner and business manager for Spencer Ag Center. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Business Administration. He has worked his entire career from our location, run by two different companies, and finally had the opportunity to become an owner. He and his wife, Sue, have three grown sons, Travis, Tyler and Taylor.
He enjoys hunting, skiing and keeps busy as a Boy Scout volunteer and leader. He states, “I like working in the livestock industry. We have remarkable people/producers in this industry. We always have challenges to meet but Spencer Ag Center has great customers and employees to meet those challenges.
Tim is a partner and sales marketing manager where he assists producers and sales staff with health and nutrition programs. He is involved with providing our producers with feed formulating and technical help. Tim finds monitoring operation’s successes as the most gratifying reward of doing this job.
Tim lives on an acreage with his family, wife Susan and children, Claire and Saul. He can be found doing anything involved with agriculture, family, church, camping and an occasional game of golf. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Ag Extension and minors in Ag Business and Animal Science from South Dakota State University in 1992.
Greg is a partner in Spencer Ag Center. He graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Animal Science and has over 25 years experience in hog buying, livestock breeding and work on a research farm.
He is now a field marketer involved with site management, sales and training. Greg serves on the Iowa Pork Producers board of directors and the Clay Co Swine Committee. He is also a 4-H leader. Greg and his wife, Ann, have three children, Zack, Lindsey and Tyler. He enjoys helping kids with livestock projects, raising show pigs, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren, Maddie and Isaac. Greg believes, “The independent livestock producer has been and will continue to be the backbone of our industry.”
Dr. Bill earned his veterinarian degree from Iowa State University and specializes in swine production. He works closely with our producers to improve and maintain good herd health. He states, “I like helping our clients and the challenge of solving their livestock health concerns.”
Bill’s family includes wife, Holli, two children, Matt and Erin and son in law Mike. Dr. Bill plays the keyboard for the church praise team, enjoys family time and traveling.
Dr. Jack earned his veterinarian degree from Iowa State University and works mainly with our beef producers. He also provides vet service to the Spencer Sale Barn. With over 40 years of experience he says, “I get to do what I like to do. It makes the job fun.”
Jack and his wife Lynne have raised four boys, Jim, Chris, Louie and Tom and now enjoy their grandchildren, Nala, Caisha, Zack,Wyatt and Tristan. He raises registered Hereford Cattle and likes following sports.
Dr. Peggy holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University. She also attained a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Peggy worked in private practice at the Sheldon Veterinary Clinic for eight years performing large animal services in beef, dairy and swine. She also spent four years with the Hematech Research and Development Center.
Dr. Peggy grew up on an Eastern Iowa farm that had a cattle and swine operation. She and her husband, Ray, live on an acreage near Sheldon with their two children. In her spare time she enjoys family time and being outdoors.
Dr. David is a third generation veterinarian and has been practicing mainly production animal medicine since graduating from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Dr. David joined Spencer Ag Center in 2016 and fills his time working with cow/calf and feedlot clients. He has always had a passion for cattle and continues to be involved in his uncle’s cow/calf operation in west-central Iowa.
Dr. David and his wife Amanda, a registered veterinary technician, live in Spencer with their two cats and a few exotic pets. When not working, David and Amanda enjoy traveling, hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities. Both are also huge Iowa State fans.
Dr. David enjoys working with cattle producers, and his goal is to assist producers in achieving the full potential of their operations.
Originally from Eureka Illinois, Dr. Emily Tabor graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015.
Dr. Emily recently moved to Spencer with her cat Millie. She is looking forward to joining the Spencer town band, participating in the Spencer Young Professional group and becoming involved in the community. In her spare time Emily loves to knit, hunt and travel. She hopes one day to make it to all 7 continents.
Dr. Emily is looking forward to becoming part of the community and being able to help producers solve the problems that they face day to day.
Whether you are looking for a special product, need a problem solved or just want to visit, Paul can help! He has been the familiar face, or voice, of our store for over ten years. Paul challenges himself to stay updated on the ever changing livestock industry, products and procedures.
Paul, his wife Kris, and daughters Chelsea and Sophie live on an acreage near Fostoria. He enjoys fishing, hunting and can usually be found building or remodeling something.
Chad comes to us with a good deal of Ag experience having grown up on a farm and worked with his family’s cattle operation. He is in sales and “likes talking to producers and seeing different operations.”
He also assists our vets with working cattle and hogs, can be found lending a hand in the store or helping out with deliveries. Chad and his wife, Kristy, along with their daughter Kylee Kristen, live on an acreage near Spencer. He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing sports, riding his motorcycle, farming or anything outdoors.
Joel grew up on a farm with a diversified livestock operation. He has worked in the agricultural industry for over 35 years including ten plus years with Spencer Ag Center as a field marketer. He feels the best part of his job is customer success and satisfaction. Joel has a cow-calf herd and “enjoys looking at good cattle anywhere”.
His interests include college and NFL football, time with family and friends, and occasionally chasing a pheasant. Joel lives on an acreage near Cylinder with his wife, Robin and normally one or more dogs. They have one son, Lucas.
The son of Chris and Marcia Langner of Gillett Grove, Dave grew up on the family farm where they had a cow/calf operation. After college Dave was employed by The Maschhoffs as a Junior Field Advisor. This company manages one of the largest family-owned pork farming networks in the United States. Most recently Dave was a Junior Buyer for Tyson.
Ryan, his wife, Laurie and daughter, Sarah live on a farm south of Royal.Ryan grew up farming and is still in business with his dad. He has raised sheep, swine and continues to farm the land. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and minors in Ag Business and Ag Marketing from South Dakota State University.
Ryan is the vet clinic manager and purchasing agent for Spencer Ag Center. He enjoys spending time with his family, farming, playing basketball, and anything Iowa Hawkeyes. He appreciates that his job offers “variety and the flexibility for farming and family time.”
Marcia has been our Office Manager for over 25 years. She values the many acquaintances with long time customers and the great people she gets to work with everyday. She enjoys the variety of office duties involved to better serve our customers and meet industry requirements.
Marcia and her husband, Bill, have three children, Ryan, Jill and Nathan. In her spare time Marcia enjoys camping and spending time with family and friends.
Tom is the warehouse manager and is always on the move. He coordinates delivery routes with our drivers and supervises shipping and receiving. In addition, Tom performs inventory control, helps in the store and occasionally works cattle with his dad, Dr. Jack Johnson.
Tom and his wife, Amy and their son Tristan, enjoy music, movies, karaoke, and traveling. When asked what he likes about his job, he replies, “The people I work with and the variety of duties I do each day.”
After working out of town for the past 25 years, Dale is happy to be working in Spencer.
He spent 3 years as Plant Manager for Daybreak Foods and 23 years as production supervisor for PM Beef Group. Dale, along with his wife Ann, and 3 daughters, Mariah, Hannah, and Olivia enjoy camping, fishing, band and choir concerts, dancing, basketball, softball, and volleyball.
Roger is a lifelong Spencer area resident who has spent most of his life farming. He and his wife, Sharon, have raised three children and now enjoy their nine grandchildren. Roger has worked for Spencer Ag Center the past nine years in shipping, receiving and delivery.
He likes working the 4-H Beef Show each year and keeps busy attending his grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoys livestock shows, PBR rodeos, tractor pulls, and truck driving. When asked the best part of his job, he replies, “the people around me that I work with every day.”
Mark has been a part of our warehouse and delivery team for over seven years. He takes the utmost care in getting the right product in the right place. No stranger to the Ag industry, Mark was a hog buyer for 20 years prior to joining Spencer Ag Center.
He and his wife, Sharon, have two sons, Jed and Jake. He enjoys watching sports and reading. He can often be found moonlighting as a painter. When asked what he likes best about his job, he replies with a laugh, “saying ‘hi’ to all the dogs on my route.”
Roger is a familiar face at Spencer Ag Center. He has been delivering feed and supplies for over 20 years and can direct you to almost any farmstead. He also helps in the warehouse, does maintenance and assists the vets working with livestock. Roger is an avid deer and turkey bow hunter and NASCAR fan. He and his wife, Jeanne, have two sons, Travis and Zachary.
Jerry knows the countryside well after having delivered feed and supplies for over twelve years. He states, “I enjoy visiting with the customers and having every day different.” However, he does find “Mother Nature offers a challenge at times.” Jerry and his wife, Lori, have two girls, Mattie and Emma.
He enjoys attending their activities, time with family and a great round of golf.
With over twenty five years of experience delivering bulk feed Dan is well known across the countryside.
He says, “I like being able to talk to farmers and look at their livestock.” Dan lives in Hartley. He enjoys family time with his two girls, Amy and Brandy and his three grandsons. His interests include fishing, hunting and gardening.
For many years Connie has been working with cattle producers to project feed lot performance and break evens. She also works with swine producers to provide performance and expense data. When asked the best part of her job, “I love the people”. Connie and her husband, Dennis, live near Milford on an acreage filled with chickens, goats, horses, cats, and a dog. She raises American Cream Draft horses, loves gardening and is a home brewer.
